When people think of church two things often pop into their mind, buildings and programs.  While buildings and programs are columbia-clubhouse-2helpful, they aren’t essential in Jesus building His church.  An interesting fact is that there are 59 direct commands to His people to practically contribute to building His church such as,

  • Care for one another (1 Cor 12:25)
  • Serve one another (Gal 5:13)
  • Bear each other’s burdens (Gal 6:2)
  • Encourage and build up one another (1 Thes 5:11)

columbia-clubhouseNone of these 59 things require a building or a program, yet God does give His church buildings to serve the life among, and through them.

The church plant in Columbia, MO, led by D”Markus Thomas-Brown, has recently had the opportunity to move into a building to serve both the family and the mission to their neighborhood.  They have been meeting in homes since their beginning and have a great sense of family life built among them.

As they have been attempting to reach out and serve their neighborhood they have been given access to a neighborhood clubhouse to host meetings.  D”Markus has also gained favor in the neighborhood and was made president of the local Home Owner’s Association.  Here is his testimony.

We moved our Sunday morning meeting to the County Downes Clubhouse on December 4th 2016. After being elected as the Home Owner’s Association president, and the unanimous acceptance of the idea of the church meeting in the Clubhouse by the HOA Board, we feel Jesus has focused our attention to this neighborhood. The location move represents a phase 2 for the church, as Jesus is unctioning us to lift our eyes to the harvest and be harvesters in this time. Don’t say four months and then comes the harvest has been the reminder for us. D’Markus
